Saturday, the Kennedy Earth Team participated in the 2nd Saturday Volunteer Day with The Watershed Project at the Richmond Greenway. They worked diligently to remove invasive species and plant natives alongside other students from around the Bay, including Richmond High Earth Team interns.

This week’s after school meeting took place at Davis Park where the Kennedy Earth Team continued their vegetation monitoring project. The interns have been working with an application called Calflora to identify and record occurrences of certain native species. This week, they observed Cottonwood, Toyon, California coffeeberry, Coyote brush, Coast live oak, and Buckeye.

For the past two weeks LPS Oakland Earth Team has been on campus working diligently to develop protocol that they can use for next semesters project where they will be tracking the movement and accumulation of litter as it flows from the upper Peralta Creek headwaters to the creeks drainage point at the Martin Luther King Jr Shoreline in Oakland.
