This is our very first post. In the 2017-2018 school year, LPS Oakland RD student interns will participate in an after school service-learning project to reduce contamination in the waste streams in their school & communities. This blog will serve as a platform for interns to share their work.

Program Associate Jenna Topper spent the whole day this past Monday at Oakland High School presenting to over 20 classes! A total of 688 students got to learn about this year’s internship programs and were invited to apply.

There was an overwhelming consensus and awareness that trash is a big problem here in Oakland, and we are looking forward to giving our future environmental leaders all the tools and resources they need to make real change in their communities and tackle waste issues both on and off campus. EarthTeam Interns greeted community members at a booth in Contra Loma Park.

On Saturday the 23rd, Interns at Antioch High School hosted a community Eco Fair to celebrate Earth Day. Interns began the day by walking together around their school and neighborhood picking up litter on the sidewalks and streets.
