School Energy Audits

School Energy Audit (cross-listed in Energy as "Lighting The Library")
A project in partnership with the EPA

ENERGY STAR is a voluntary partnership among the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, product manufacturers, local utilities, and retailers. Partners help promote efficient products by labeling with the ENERGY STAR logo and educating consumers about the benefits of energy efficiency. By choosing ENERGY STAR labeled products, you'll keep your utility bills down, and help the environment at the same time.

Introduction

Join numerous Bay Area schools in doing an energy audit and receive Energy Stars as well as participate in a press conference in the Spring with the other schools that also did audits. The schools that adapt will become Energy Star Schools and the student auditors will all receive Energy Stars. Even if your school doesn't adjust to the recommendations, you will participate in the press conference so that the information becomes public.

'Lighting the Library' listed in our Action Projects section under Energy will guide you through the steps necessary to doing an energy audit of your school.
