California Academy of Sciences
Each year one and a half million people visit the California Academy in SanFrancisco. It includes the Natural History Museum, the Steinhart Aquarium and the Morrison Planetarium. The site is a wealth of information for students, families and teachers about  the Academy. 

California Environmental Resources Evaluation System (CERES)
CERES was developed by the California Resources Agency to facilitate access to a variety of electronic data describing California's rich and diverse environments. The goal of CERES is to improve environmental analysis and planning by integrating natural and resource information and making it available to a wide variety of users.

EarthNavigator
Use EarthNavigator to bring the world to your desktop. This Web browser (a free download from ZDNet), based on Internet Explorer, features an integrated world globe that provides thousands of interesting links. Use your mouse to rotate and navigate the globe, then click on a spot to retrieve maps, weather forecasts, and other regional information. You can even retrieve distance estimates and driving directions between two points that you select.

eNature.com
The eNature.com Online Field Guide is a searchable database for identifying more than 4,000 plant and animal species of North America. Additional species and other nature content is constantly added to the database.

National Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides   
An excellent source on pesticides, this group also publishes detailed reports and alerts of pending legislation.  They are committed to pesticide safety and the adoption of alternative pest management strategies that reduce or eliminate dependencies on toxic chemicals.

EcoAtlas 
They have put extensive work into an EcoAtlas that helps provide a visual demonstration of the bay. The Bay Area EcoAtlas is a Geographic Information System of past and present local ecology of the bays, baylands, and adjacent habitats of the San Francisco Bay Area. It is designed to support regional environmental planning and management. It has regional historical and present day maps of the San Francisco bay.

SF Bay Area Organizations

Bay Area Action 
A nonprofit organization that has a mission to help people discover and strengthen their connection to and concern for the natural environment through education and hands-on, action-oriented activities. They organize community environmental action activities as well as posting an online calendar.

East Bay Street Project
We exist, in collaboration with other social service agencies, to provide East Bay working people with opportunities to join others in making a difference through volunteerism, in a way that enriches lives, encourages new friendships and creates new understanding, for the betterment of our community.

Math/Science Nucleus 
Serves as a science resource center to assist school districts, teachers, and administrators. A major goal is to increase the science literacy of students in our school systems by enhancing the skills of teachers and administrators. Improving their literacy will effectively teach generations of children. They provide teacher workshops, school field trips, works with local schools on environmental research projects and develop science curriculum.

San Francisco's Bay Area Progressive Directory  
A listing of nonprofit and relevant organizations in a diverse array of fields ranging from ecology to water. They also have a calendar of events.

Save The Bay 
teaches young people about the Bay-Delta so they appreciate and protect our waterways and wetlands. Canoes in Sloughs is an innovative, experiential program that places students from 6th to 12th grade in canoes to explore the estuary ecosystem up close. Their website has information on facts on SF bay including pollution, urban sprawl, dams and canoes. They also have newspaper articles on topics such as cleaning up toxics.

The San Francisco Bay-Delta Model  
At 2100 Bridgeway in Sausalito.  This is a great field trip destination with a miniaturized representation of the bay.  The model is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Engineers usually operate the model every Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call ahead to be sure it's operating: (415) 332-3871

San Francisco Estuary Project   
General information on SF estuary, wetlands (types, history, value, pressure, and issues glossary), and watershed management. Publishes "Estuarywise" educational materials facts on San Francisco Bay –Delta Estuary.

Sulphur Creek Nature Center, Hayward, Ca.
