The Four R's Spring 2006

EarthTeam & Recycling On the Red Carpet

Schools from around the Bay Area
showcased their creativity at
EarthTeam's Our School, Our Planet
Environmental Film Festival on April
30, 2006.   Approximately 200
students, parents and teachers
gathered at Expression College for
the Digital Arts to view the video and
animation projects that students
created this year.

The short videos were filmed or
created by students on local school
campuses to educate and inspire their
classmates and the community about
recycling and waste reduction.
Additional goals of the project were
to instill a sense of citizenship
amongst students for their school
campus, show students that their
individual actions can have a positive
impact and show the power of media
as an influential tool.

"Using the media in this fashion
promotes the learning process," said
EarthTeam Video Project
Coordinator Lana Husser.   "Students
have used recycling facts and their
imaginations to creatively educate
viewers and show off their new
technology skills."
"In watching the fabulous videos, it
was obvious that through this
project, the students had developed a
broad and deep understanding of the
issues around recycling," said Leslie
Rule of KQED.
