Fundraising Ideas

Have a cleanup of your campus. We'll help you get prizes for the people who collect the most trash. Email us if you want help., info@earthteam.net

Have a parade. Consider an Energy Parade where everyone in the parade uses alternative forms of transportation that don't involve fossil fuel. (roller blades, skateboards, etc.) Have a prize for the funniest or most innovative.

Have an All-Species Parade where people wear masks as local animals or as critters found in the bay (since this year's theme is celebrate the Bay). Check out www.allspecies.org and click on parades and plays for more ideas.

Write a play about an environmental issue and perform it for other classes.

Hold a contest around an environmental theme. The contest could feature posters, or essays, or poetry, T-shirt design, music, etc. (or more than one). Have a impartial jury and some good prizes. We'll help you organize it, contact info@earthteam.net.

Create a community green map on a big poster that highlights all the environmental assets in your community (parks, recycling centers, organic and community farmers' markets, public transit stations, etc.) Check out www.greenmap.com and then hit Youth Maps and get lots of ideas. The website will also post your map.

Organize an Earth Day Walk-a-Thon where walkers collect pledges in advance and then walk a certain distance. Come up with a specific project or an outing that the money will go toward. We'll give you help with organizing it.

Invite a speaker to come in to talk about a topic your class or club is interested in. Maybe you can make it a school assembly. We'll help find a speaker. (We need to know at least a month in advance.) email Mary Jo Reese at maryjor@earthteam.net.

Adopt a Bay Critter. Since Celebrate the Bay is this year's theme for the Bay Area, we can provide you with a selection of choices for adoption. Birds, fish, and other tide pool natives. We'll provide a sketch and some info. You can go from there and organize a trip to find the critter, or make a giant paper mache version as a mascot for your school. We'll help.

Please contact us with your ideas at info@earthteam.net.
