Video reception - What a success! You had to be there - at the Orinda Library Auditorium on Wed, April 6th, to understand why
“So much more than we expected!” “What a great turnout!” “Wow! There was so much talent in the room!” “The presenters had so much to say - thanks for getting us together” AND - “Can we make this an annual event? I’d like to do it again next year.”(That’s from Mandy – and Yes, Mandy. We’ll do it again!)
Thanks for all your great comments – from the participants and the audience at the April 6th EarthTeam sustainable schools video project film festival, Our School Our Planet.
The Orinda Library Auditorium was filled with students, teachers and industry folk who came to see 15 videos on the large screen. And were they ever surprised!
The evening started with Scott Hammel’s show, “Litter at Northgate”. Scott stood for the applause and comments from the motion picture professionals who said “I couldn’t believe that came from a high school student” and “Please invite me back for more. I’ll always come to see such talent” (Tom Martinek from Industrial Light and Magic).
Students, teachers and volunteers mingled over refreshments after the presentation and stayed an hour longer than was planned. We couldn’t get them to leave – they were so excited about meeting each other, congratulating each other for their work, and talking about collaborating on future projects.
Even though I was battling a case of laryngitis, I was able to meet and greet almost everyone – and I’m so sorry if I missed you. I’ll look forward to seeing you at the next event – because it looks like we’ll do it again next year.
In case you haven’t heard, all 15 videos will be running Monday evening, April 18, at the student reception at the Goldman Environmental Awards at the San Francisco Opera House. Additionally, the following cable stations will be showing all the projects at the end of April and through May: Comcast Ch 6, TriValley Comcast Channel 25 & 26, KDOL in Oakland, BCM in Berkeley, and KCRT in Richmond. I’ll let you know as soon as I have days and times.
We’d love to have you be part of other EarthTeam projects. Just email me your name, email, school and year in school and I’ll post you on our email Updates. Remember to check out www.earthteam.net - and send in your contributions to the Green, the environmental newsletter for teens, by teens. Consider also entering your art of all types into the Visuals and Voices project. We love to showcase your talents.
It was great to meet you all this year and I hope to see you again in the near future at other EarthTeam events.
