Global Warming Campaign

This year a group of students from around the Bay Area will meet monthly to explore ideas related to Global Warming. These student leaders will hear guest speakers, participate in action projects, and brainstorm together to create a Global Warming Campaign within their schools and communities. The Campaign will culminate with student-directed special projects during Earth Month, April 2007.

Join us at the next Global Warming Campaign Meeting!

Sunday, March 11 from 2-4 PM
at the Berkeley Public Library, 3rd floor meeting room

FEBRUARY =  FUNDRAISING TO BUY CARBON CREDITS!

Students should start now planning a fundraiser at their school for February or March. The money raised will be used to purchase carbon credits at $10/ton through our partners at DriveNeutral (www.driveneutral.org), and will help fund projects such as renewable energy, reforestation, industrial-scale energy efficiency, and greenhouse-gas reducing agricultural practices.

Click here for the Action of the Month flyer, which includes tips on how to start planning your Earth Month (April) activities on campus. Host speakers, get students and teachers to sign pledges to reduce their carbon footprint through simple activities, publicize your events, and more!

Other Global Warming Campaign Fun:

Our Action of the Month for December/January was to calculate the "Carbon Footprint" of our schools using an awesome, student-created SchoolNeutral Carbon Calculator. It’s never too late to find out how many tons of carbon emissions your school is producing! Click here to download past Action of the Month information.

Click here to take our Poll of the Month, which is on the bottom left-hand corner of our home page.  So far the people who have taken the poll think that electricity use contributes the most to their school’s carbon footprint. What do you think?
