Come read about our awesome weekend event with Antioch and Independence High School this past weekend!

After piling up into the Earth Team Van, the interns participated in some much needed environmental stewardship and developed more on their environmental education and outdoor skills.
This past weekend students from both Antioch High School and Independence High School met up at the Marsh Creek Trail. With the help of our awesome colleague Joelle, the interns learned about water testing and actually participated in testing a few sites themselves. They learned what to measure, how to measure, and the importance of water testing as a whole.

Students also got a chance to walk the Marsh Creek Trail and identify both Native and non native species while assessing invasive species and their impacts on the trail itself. In addition, they participated in a massive litter clean up right after the huge flooding California just had and ended up collecting around 200 pieces of litter.

After this event, the interns are eager to continue with learning about the Marsh Creek and will be planting acorns in the area soon to help with erosion and biodiversity in the creek.
