Skyline High interns, who are working this year on quantifying effects of urban activities on water quality, spent their Wednesday afternoon mastering GLOBE hydrosphere protocols and collecting sample water quality data.

Interns from Antioch and Pinole Valley High School teamed up for a Saturday field day at the Upper Sand Creek Basin. Their task for the day was to remove the invasive plant species called “Stinkwort.”
October 16th marked the return of Antioch Earth Team interns to the Upper Sand Creek Basin. Interns used GLOBE Hydrosphere and Atmosphere protocols to define their study site and collect their first samples of water quality data.
Returning to Earth Team for 2018-2019 is a journey that I am extremely excited to make again. Upon joining the internship I have created lifelong memories and taken advantages of opportunities that would have otherwise not been presented to me.
This month, Earth Team interns at Pinole Valley High School attended “Creek Invaders,” an event hosted by the Walnut Creek Watershed Council at Diablo Valley College where they learned about the impact of invasive species in our local creeks.
