CVHS Litter Clean Up

Castro Valley comes back to Earth Team in 2021

Our weekly meetings have consisted of making individual and team vision boards, learning about plastic pollution, and much more

January hasn’t slowed down for the Earth Team interns at Castro Valley High School. We welcomed back our awesome interns in early January, after the schools broke out for 2 weeks at the end of December. Our team has kept busy this month with virtual weekly meetings, individual activities, and a month-long litter clean up. You can see what the Castro Valley team has been doing for the month of January below:

In an activity where interns could summarize specific topics we discussed last semester in any way they like, one group created a presentation on the individual’s carbon footprint, waste and sustainable living.
Earth Team interns participated in a month-long litter clean-up. CVHS interns cleaned up over 900 pieces of litter throughout the month of January! This is picture of one of our interns, Ivan, out on his litter clean up with a Mallow plant.
Interns brainstormed some positive ideas to effectively communicate the importance of environmental and sustainable living with community members, friends, and family. This is just a few of their great ideas!

We also added 3 new interns to the Castro Valley Team this year: Santiago, Demi and Kelly. They’re going to be great additions to our team this semester. The next few months will be jam-packed with focusing on our interns professional development, hearing from guest speakers, learning about more environmental topics, as well as gaining momentum on our SITA project. We have no doubt that this will be another collaborative, fun and educational semester for the Castro Valley Team!
