As the school year comes to a close, we’re celebrating all the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our San Lorenzo High School Earth Team interns!
This year, interns dedicated themselves to protecting and studying local ecosystems through hands-on environmental stewardship and scientific research. From sampling tire and road wear particles in the field to restoring habitat and removing invasive species, students gained valuable career experience while making a positive impact in their community.
Throughout the year, interns participated in creek cleanups and restoration events across the East Bay. They removed litter, cleared invasive plants, and helped restore habitat for native wildlife. Along the way, they learned about watershed health, local biodiversity, and the important role healthy ecosystems play in supporting species like steelhead trout and migratory birds. Beyond their fieldwork, interns developed leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through collaboration with environmental professionals, community partners, and fellow students. Whether they were identifying birds during surveys, tackling restoration projects in the rain, or sharing their knowledge with others, the San Lorenzo team consistently brought enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication to every challenge.
We are incredibly proud of everything these students have accomplished this year. Their commitment to environmental stewardship has left a lasting impact on both their community and the natural spaces they helped protect.
