Earth Team Launches Program at Arroyo High

Earth Team launches a program at Arroyo High!

Earth Team has started a new program at Arroyo High School this year!

Ben McLaughlin, this year’s campus coordinator, interviewed students at Arroyo High before narrowing candidate decisions down to 14 wonderful, hardworking interns.

This year Earth Team interns at Arroyo can expect to work on a variety of environmental and STEM projects focused on restoring and maintaining healthy watersheds. They will be partnering with East Bay Regional Parks district to remove invasive species and plant native species in their place at local parks. Their work will also include habitat restoration at various sites around the bay, including Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline and the Alameda National Wildlife Refuge. Key to their goals is to clean up trash in these areas and make sure that the watersheds in their communities are healthy and can support a thriving ecosystem. We will collaborate with project partners including Friends of San Lorenzo Creek to increase community awareness of local environmental challenges.

We look forward to a fun-filled year at Arroyo!
