In response to the current COVID-19 outbreak, WCCUSD made the decision to close schools, and Earth Team followed suit, canceling in-person meetings. That doesn’t mean that the team isn’t going to continue to fight to protect our planet, though!
Spring plans to host a Community Service Workday at our Native Plant Garden have been canceled, as well as water quality testing in the Pinole Creek. The team is disappointed, but Pinole Valley High’s Earth Team has transitioned its meetings online, where discussion and activism continue.
After getting acquainted with the Zoom software, the team’s first online meeting covered how to communicate science through storytelling. This week, the team is interviewing family and friends at home to learn about the level of climate change literacy of those closest to them. Future plans are still in the works, but rest assured the team will be learning about the global ecosystem from the safety of their homes.
Earth Team will continue to host online meetings until schools reopen. Stay tuned here for more updates from the Pinole Valley Team!
