Earth Team Returns to Pinole Valley High School

Earth Team is back at Pinole for its second consecutive year.

After several weeks of interviewing over 40 candidates and selecting our 14 wonderful, passionate interns for the year, Earth Team is up and running at Pinole Valley High School. Itzel Gomez is excited to be back for a second year as Pinole’s campus coordinator.

This year Earth Team interns at Pinole will work on a variety of environmental and STEM projects focused on restoring and maintaining healthy watersheds. They will continue their close partnership with Friends of Pinole Creek Watershed to restore Pinole’s very own Native Plant Garden located near Pinole Valley Library. Among several activities planned for the year, their work will include invasive species removal, native plant installations, water quality monitoring, and litter removal. Our biggest goal this year is to get the community involved in our projects and make students on campus aware of local and global environmental challenges.

Community members are invited to join us on Saturday, November 16th at the Pinole Native Plant Garden to complete our first planting day of the season. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!

We look forward to yet another fun-filled year at Pinole!
