Earth Team has returned to Skyline High School this year!
Itzel Gomez will be stepping in as this year’s campus coordinator at Skyline. She interviewed over 50 students this year before narrowing candidate decisions to 14 dedicated and passionate interns.
This year Earth Team interns at Skyline will work on a variety of environmental and STEM projects focused on restoring and maintaining healthy watersheds. They will partner with East Bay Regional Park District to work at sites including Martin Luther King Jr. Shoreline and Oyster Bay. Among several activities planned for the year, their work will include invasive species removal, native plant installations, water quality monitoring, and litter removal. Already in the past month, interns have begun to learn about Marine Debris and its impacts on watersheds and marine life. With the help of our project partners at Friends of Sausal Creek, our main goal this year is to spread community and student awareness of local and global environmental challenges.
We look forward to yet another fun-filled year at Skyline!
