Earth Team Antioch finished their last meeting in February with a splash (in the San Joaquin River). A couple of dedicated interns helped out at the Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge and found a variety of interesting marine debris items that had found their way to the shores of the refuge. Among these items included: a twin-sized inflatable mattress, a fishing rod (pictured above), a shoe, and a huge piece of styrofoam that interns used as a surfboard. It’s always so astonishing to see what our teams discover during a litter cleanup. What will we find next?
This month Antioch, CA received 0.00″ of precipitation. An alarming number considering we’re in the middle of winter! Here’s to hoping for rain in the forecast soon.
