Hundreds of volunteer gather on this day to better the local community in honor of Martin Luther King’s self-less legacy.
Richmond High was one of the firsts to arrive on site at Richmond Greenway. After tool selection, the interns immediately started spreading out the biggest pile of mulch.

The task was to transport the mulch from one side of the greenway to the other. The practice is important to eliminate weeds and ensure a healthy micro-watershed.

In the process, Richmond interns also developed friendships with various volunteers. Together, they’ve developed an efficient system where Richmond team digs and transports the cypress-smelling-mulch to other volunteers working on the opposite side of the road. The other team then takes over with the tasks of spreading it evenly.

Interns went home after a well-deserved healthy lunch bag.
