May Weekend Event at Point Pinole Regional Park

Some RHS and PVH interns were able to participate in an in-person weekend event at Point Pinole Regional Park

On May 15th, Earth Team staff partnered with Big City Mountaineers (BCM) to host an in-person event for RHS and PVH interns. The teams followed strict COVID-19 protocols and were separated into two groups, in order to keep group size small. Interns were able to participate in a variety of outdoor activities including:

  • Tent set-up and breakdown,
  • Waterproofing tents and checking for wear and tear,
  • Navigation lesson,
  • & Hiking

Check out some reflections and highlights from the interns:

“I enjoyed being outside and getting to be with different people. I learned how to read maps and orient myself”

“I really enjoyed being outside at the park and just living in the moment. It’s been a while since I got to be around Mother Nature so this experience felt very enjoyable.”

-Kevin, RHS
Group B reading their maps while hiking through Point Pinole Regional Park

“I enjoyed the random facts Itzel gave us during the hike, they were very interesting and definitely something new I learned. I also learned how to set up a tent and waterproof it, and learned how to read a map!”

A HUGE thank you to Jenna from Big City Mountaineers for helping coordinate this event. Another thank you to those interns who were able to participate, it wouldn’t have been the same without you!
