I’m Jean Shayne Pedragosa, a junior at Pinole Valley High School, and good to meet you. I use the pronouns he/him. I joined the earth team to gain more knowledge about environmental concerns and how I, as a student, can make a difference. I also want to improve my ability to cooperate with others and communicate in the future. Hiking, gardening, working out, and playing badminton with friends are some of my favorite activities.
Hi! I am Natalie Szumlas, I am a junior at Pinole Valley High school. This will be my third year growing with Earth Team. This team has taught me so much about my community and myself. Since joining I have become more social, outgoing, active, and a leader. I love STEM, hiking, and creating new things. Earth Team is an incredible program that has helped me come out of my comfort zone and has exposed me to new opportunities.
Hello! I’m Donovan Bantay and I’m a junior at Pinole Valley. My pronouns are He/Him and I’m a new ET member and I am excited for this upcoming year! I’ve always had a passion for nature, I want to give as much as it’s given to me and I plan to pursue a career in environmental engineering. I’m pretty excited to have the opportunity to give back to my community and fight our environmental issues as an intern. I love tennis, food, my dogs, reading books, watching soccer, and listening to music. I’m so excited to meet new peers this year and build new connections!
My name is Evette and I’m a sophomore. I love to read and write during my free time. I joined Earth Team because I want to help the environment while also learning more about it at the same time!
My name is Camila Castillo and I am a sophomore at Pinole valley high school. I like to takes hikes and spend time outside reading. I also punch needle and embroider on my free time.
Hello, I’m Amanda! I am a senior at Pinole Valley High School. This is my first year as a part of Earth Team, I am so excited to see what good things Earth Team brings my way. I applied because this is a different experience than anything that I’ve done in the past and my goal is to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. Apart from being a part of Earth Team, I am the co-lead of the Health Academy at my school, we are hoping to focus on Public Health a little more this year which ties in with Earth Team. In my free time I enjoy crocheting and painting as well as spending time with my dog, Rocket and my family.
My name is Caroline Arreola and I am currently in my Junior year as a student at Pinole Valley High school. This is my first year being a part of the Earth team and something I am lookinging forward to! I decided to join to be a part of something greater than me while also being able to give back to my community. Not only does it give me an opportunity to learn more about environmental issues and how to help the earth, but also allows me to learn more about myself and others in the process. Some of the things I like to do in my free time is read, listen to music, or be with my friends!
Hello all, my name is Maddox and I am a senior as well as a proud second year member of Earth Team. Though, when I’m not at school or working with Earth Team, you can find me on the wrestling mat. Wrestling has taught me hard work and determination, skills I believe are needed in order to protect our environment. One of my other passions is traveling. Exploring different places, cultures, and landscapes reinforces my commitment to sustain our beautiful Earth. I am a very hands-on worker and I get my hands dirty whether its for planting trees or cleaning. Since this is my last year, I find myself even more motivated to leave an impact on my community, and Earth Team has given me the opportunity to do so.
Hi!! My name is Melanie Saenz and I’m a Junior in Pinole Valley High School. This is my second year in Earth Team. I love to draw and spend time with my family. I have three siblings, two brothers and one sister. I am the oldest out of all of them. I joined Earth Team again because it provided me with so much information and experience that really helped me grow as a person. I got to know new people and be active in my community. It makes me happy that I am making a difference and also educating myself on environmental issues. I am excited for this year and to be part of this team again!
Hello, my name is Jordan Le and I am a Senior at Pinole Valley High School. I joined Earth Team due to my positive experience last year making environmental change on the local level and fostering community engagement. I had a great time with likeminded schoolmates who shared an interest in environmental activism. In my free time, I enjoy thrifting and playing with my two cats, Tobi and Mobius!
Hi, my name is Maria Gonzalez and I am a Senior at Pinole Valley High School. This is my first year in Earth Team and I joined because I wanted to make a prominent difference in my community as well as meet new people! I’m very excited to expand my knowledge about environmental issues and solutions that are present in my community. In my free time, I enjoy reading a good book, crocheting, and also building Legos!
Hello, I’m Khaya Jackson and I’m a Junior at Pinole Valley High School! I decided to join the Earth team because I wanted to learn more about our effects on our Earth and how we can better our actions to cleanse our beautiful world. I also wanted to educate myself on climate changes and the causes and effects of it. A club that I’m part of at Pinole Valley is the girls basketball team, and some hobbies I enjoy doing are going on walks or hikes with my dog and sister, baking with my friends, going on car rides with my friends, and going on runs. Overall I’m really excited to be part of this amazing team and all the memories I get to make with this great group of people.
My name is Juan and I joined earth team because not too long ago, I was rotting in bed 🙂 I didn’t know what path I wanted to take. I decided that Earth team could be a gateway or peek into a career I want to pursue. I had already hiked a few times and like hiking because its peaceful (tiring as well) and the sights can be amazing sometimes. I said sometimes because it’s often ruined by us and humans’ neglect. The internship said we would spend time in nature and in the community doing good for the environment and I was excited to finally do some good and take action in my life. I enjoy playing video games when I have free time. I also enjoy singing songs and am confident that I would rock a karaoke night(but don’t have the confidence). I used to religiously draw but still do a bit and I was into photography at one point!
My name is josiah ireton I am a junior at Pinole valley highschool. I like to read and I joined earth team because I like nature and the beauty of the sounds of outdoors.
My name is Shawn and I am a junior at Pinole Valley High School. I joined earth team because I want to be more aware of the environment around me and understand how I can do my best in environmental stewardship. I am a big foodie and enjoy trying all kinds of foods!
Hi my name is Ariana Salvador and I am a senior at Pinole Valley high school. I like playing tennis and badminton and I love the environment so I want to learn as much as I can and understand the impacts that we have on the environment.
