2024 MLK Community Service Day at Pullman Portal Park along the Richmond Greenway

This past week, volunteers from all over Richmond and other counties in the East Bay, along with Earth Team interns from Richmond High School and Pinole Valley High School, came together to do some amazing work. Thanks to the Watershed Project, California volunteers, and other community organizations, volunteers were able to celebrate this day with activities that inspired everyone and gave the community hope of the progress and beauty Richmond has to offer.

Students from Earth Team participated in a litter clean up along the creek and under the bridge, helped plant seven trees, and remove invasive species. Partners like Groundwork Richmond helped show students how to plant the trees and set it up for maintenance work for the rest of the year.

Thanks to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the CSP Community grants, this year students will be completing a variety of clean ups, restoration events, and participating in fun outdoor recreational activities! Stay tuned for more events and amazing opportunities coming this year with Earth Team!
