Native Species Planting at Marsh Creek

Thanks to the California Conservation Corps, the Watershed Stewards Program, and Americorps, Antioch and Independence High School Students from Earth Team enjoyed some time in the sun planting Native Species along the Marsh Creek in Brentwood. For some students, it was their first time planting anything!

Students immediately took to planting after an awesome explanation from one of the American Rivers Volunteers. Earth Team planted about twenty five different plants that morning, working together, and just straight vibing.

As a whole, the interns this year from Antioch and Independence High School exemplify eager and committed individuals willing to come together as a group and make a difference. At the beginning of this year, both groups were complete strangers to one another and have now completed three weekend events together, helping with restoration efforts and learning about each other’s communities. We can’t wait for our next event at the end of April for Earth Day!
