This year, over 100 students from 8 different high schools will work together to address environmental issues in their communities. Earth Team will spend the year working in neighborhoods across the East Bay, with students from all over Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, to improve water and air quality and educate community members on issues of environmental degradation and climate change.
Earth Team paid interns will practice real-world STEM skills, like water testing and mapping litter using technology, through their service-learning projects. They will also develop as young professionals, networking with peers and environmental professionals through Earth Team’s career exploration and professionalism workshops. Finally, they will hone their communication skills, build cross-community friendships, and experience nature in new ways as they lead their communities toward improving green spaces and preserving precious natural resources across the Bay Area.
Our teams will be in good hands this year, led by our wonderful campus coordinators Ben McLaughlin, Itzel Gomez, and Jessica Ho. Check them out on our staff page! Please stay tuned for more information about this year’s teams, Earth Team’s continuing and new projects, and the many ways you can get involved.
Happy Coastal Cleanup Day!
