As we say goodbye to a warm and relaxing summer, Earth Team staff are now busy with recruitment and planning for this year’s programs!
This year, over 100 student interns from 6 different high schools throughout the East Bay will work together to address environmental issues in their communities. Earth Team will spend the year working with students from all over Contra Costa and Alameda Counties to improve water and air quality. They will also educate community members on issues related to environmental degradation and climate change.
Earth Team’s paid interns will have the opportunity to practice real-world STEM skills, such as water testing and litter mapping, while utilizing technology throughout their service-learning projects. They will also work on developing their skills as young professionals while networking with peers and environmental professionals through Earth Team’s “Career Exploration” workshops. Finally, participants will practice improving their communication skills, build cross-community friendships, and experience nature in new and meaningful ways. They will lead their communities towards improving green spaces and preserving the precious natural resources that exist in the beautiful Bay Area.
Our teams will be in great hands this year, as they always are! They will be led by our amazing Campus Coordinators: Healey Cayabyab, Naomi Lichtenstein, and Noah Slager. Check them out on our staff page! Please stay tuned for more information about this year’s teams, Earth Team’s projects, and the many ways you can get involved.
