Welcome 2024-2025 Arroyo Earth Team Interns!

As our school year begins we would like to highlight each and every single intern who has dedicated their time to this internship program. Each intern new and repeating has their own story to tell and their relationship with the Earth! Please welcome the 2024-2025 Arroyo Earth Team cohort!

My name is Trina Le and I’m in 10th grade this year. I enjoy crocheting, playing volleyball, watching movies, and reading. I joined EarthTeam because I wanted the chance to make a difference in the world for everyone who lives on Earth, especially my family. I want to make the world a safer, healthier place, particularly for my grandparents so that they can live out the rest of their days on a clean Earth. One goal I have for this year is to learn about carbon emissions and how to reverse and prevent damages from them and new methods of how to contribute to the Earth in my own home.

Hi! I’m Isabella, a Junior, and this is my second year of Earth Team. I enjoy reading, karaoke, and pondering in my free time. I joined Earth Team because I wish to leave a lasting mark in our lovely community in the Bay Area. Aspiring civil engineer and hoping to bring environmental sustainability into our urban cities. I’m looking forward to meeting all kinds of people and talking about environmental justice!

Hi Earthteamers! I am Eva, this is my second year in Earth team as a junior. My Earth team experiences had been so so great and I really hope we’ll make an even bigger impact this year 🙂

Hello, my name is Ayden Teneza and I’m in 11th grade. I like spending time with friends and love doing karaoke with them! A goal I have for Earth Team this year is to go out more and find out more ways to help out the environment.

Hi, my name is Vân Vy, and I’m currently a sophomore at Arroyo High School. I enjoy being out and about—from suburban cities, where I enjoy café hopping, to the serene beauty of nature, where I love hiking through mountain trails and unwinding on beaches watching the waves crash ashore. Some of my favorite things include oat milk matcha lattes, Sonny Angel, cats, music, and literature, with The Bell Jar being a personal favorite. I consider myself to be both passionate and diligent in my endeavors. I joined Earth Team because of its strong environmental focus, which not only gives me the opportunity to be out more but to also give back to the environment that sustains us. My goal for this year is to gain meaningful experiences, build connections, and enjoy the experience.

Hi! My name is Nguyen. I’m a junior at Arroyo High School. I derive pleasure from crocheting because I relish the final product of the adorable items that I devote hours to creating. I also love watching shows and movies, as well as reading novels. The reason for me to join the Earth Team is that I want to dedicate my efforts to creating positive impacts on the environment and the community around me. With the Earth Team, I can reconnect the relationship between me and the environment because I kind of lost that connection after I immigrated to the US. I engaged with the environment when I lived in Vietnam compared to when I’m in the US. That’s why I am looking forward to doing more things for the environment, as well as raising the awareness of people about the environmental issues that we are facing today. I also want to have fun, learn from other people on the team, and experience more interesting things in my life.

My name is Koney, I am currently a Senior with hobbies that include playing for the school’s badminton team and baking during my free time. I decided to join EarthTeam because I was very interested in the outdoor aspects from participating in the Outdoor leaders program for EarthTeam the previous year. I hope this year I attend as much EarthTeam events and meet new people!

Hi! My name is Ericka, and I’m a freshman. A few things I like to do in my free time is to listen to music, play the guitar, and talk to my friends. On some occasions, when I have nothing else to do, I read. I joined Earth Team because I want to help keep the Earth clean and try to at least help clean and restore the Earth, even if what I’m doing helps a tiny bit. A goal I have this year is to meet and get to know new people!

Hi! My name is Sijan K.C. I am a sophomore at Arroyo High School and love to spend time with my two cats, including hanging out with family. I do two consecutive seasonal sports, wrestling and track & field. I also like to play the guitar in my free time and ride my bike with friends. I am highly interested in helping our dear earth become a better place, including those in need! One goal I have this year is to improve my mental and physical state and make the most of my sweet 16!

Hi 😀 My name is Mia Chan and I am a senior at AHS. In my spare time I love to collect sonny angels and crochet and create cute little things!! A goal for this year is to meet ALL my Earth Team hours (make ups count!) and to get to know some new people 🙂 This is my second year in ET and I’m excited for whatever is in store for me!

My name’s Angela, Angela Huang. I am in grade 9 and my hobbies and interests are drawing, reading(genres such as mystery, action, romance, and fantasy), and listening to music. I am open to listening to all types of music. One goal I have this year is being more confident, confident as in being able to talk aloud in classes and speaking in front of large groups of people. The reason why I joined EarthTeam is that I’ve been noticing the environment around me getting really polluted( in school and outside), the people around me don’t really care and I would like to help change the environment around me and their perspective about these types of matter.

I’m Arianna, a senior who enjoys playing guitar and singing. I joined EarthTeam my sophomore year in hopes to invoke environmental change not only in my community but across the East Bay. My goal for this year is to end high school with great motivation!

Hello, my name is Sophia! I’m a junior at Arroyo. I enjoy reading, listening to music, and playing video games. I enjoy martial arts as well, and I take kickboxing classes often. I also love to travel, and I love collecting pins, keychains, and stickers from places I’ve been to. I joined Earth Team because I want to spend more time doing things for my community, I love the outdoors, and I want to meet new people. One goal I have for this year is to avoid just sticking to my friend group and to get to know all of my fellow Earth Team members a little better.

Hi, I’m Sadie, this is my first year being a part of Earth Team and I am so excited to make a positive impact on our community! I’m a junior and enjoy reading, playing volleyball, painting, baking, running track, hiking, going to the beach, and watching movies. I see Earth Team as a great opportunity to meet new people, learn more about nature, and help improve our community environment! Can’t wait to start our projects and make a difference!

Name: Kaden Zheng

Grade: 11th, Junior

 – Listen on cassette and recording onto tapes

 – Collecting CD’s and blurays

 – Reading (also voice acting in novels to make it even more enjoyable)

I joined Earth Team because I believe in pursuing a healthy, sustainable Earth, and wish to explore the field of environmental science. Right now, I am aware of a couple issues of what is currently happening around us, for instance global warming, pollution, usage of non-renewable energy, deforestation, and invasive species. Because of the many intertwining factors that play into the health of the Earth, I want to learn about how to come up with solutions to those problems and build it. By studying these factors and applying information from participating in activities organized by Earth Team into forming solutions, I will be happy by becoming an environmental steward. Besides learning as an intern, I will get to clean up the Bay Area, survey trees, water quality, air quality, install plants, and remove invasive species. These activities will empower me to support the local community and hopefully the world because I am quite curious about careers that deal with energy and pollution. All in all, I think that learning by doing is sublime and the fact that I will be working  outside with other interns will be really fun.

One goal I look forward to achieving this year is to grow as a person by developing skills. I always feel like I can do better in everything I do, even the day-to-day speaking, considering I believe I could have transitioned from one topic to another better, or giving more air time for other people in the group. Problem-solving is a major skill I wish to lift up because thinking like an engineer, being able to see issues from every kind of angle and perspective will lead to success in my future. Mindfulness is also a major skill I feel like I can do better on because being able to to stay in the present moment where it matters the most than to worry so much about the future is wise. This way, I can seize the moment and actually help the future me by carving obstacles smaller in the present. So, developing skills is fairly broad, and there is much more to improve on, but I strive for the best version of me.
