Hey my name is Ivonne Albarracin! I am a Senior at Castro valley high school. In terms of clubs and hobbies I am the Treasurer for Latinos Unidos club, 3 crosses church volunteer, and I work at a food establishment and for my free time I like little crafts and making random recipes wrong. I joined earth team to meet new people and try new things and gain experience in more fields. My goal for this year is to get my permit/ license by December and to hatch out a plan for my college major!
I’m Keyan, and I’m a 12th grader at Castro Valley High School. I like to engage in volunteering clubs such as the American Red Cross and Key Club. In my freetime I build and work on computers. I joined earth team to get a better understanding of the environment. I also want to engage in activities such as hiking, and camping. My goal for this tree is to at least plant one tree, and pick up trash. I would also like to complete a hike!
My name is Genevieve Onorad and I’m a senior at Castro Valley High School. Outside of Earth Team, I try to get outside and stay active as much as I can, whether it be a hike or going to the gym. At school, I am president of our Rock Climbing Club and the VP of Marketing of DECA, our competitive business club. I joined Earth Team this year as a repeater, and I’m excited to finish my 3rd year strong and learn even more about the environment and things I can do to help. One of my goals for this year is to be in the moment and don’t take my time outside for granted. The Bay Area has some beautiful nature and I’m proud to say I take part in maintaining it!
Hi, my name is Angie! I am a senior at CVHS and I’m the president of Chinese culture club. My hobbies are drawing, playing badminton, hiking, swimming, listening to music, dancing, and sleeping. I joined Earth team because I hope to contribute more to my community and the environment. I had a lot of fun during the different field events last year and enjoyed doing/ planning for the research project at the end of the internship. I hope I’ll be able to learn more about the different environmental crisis that surrounds us and approaches that we can take to make the earth a better place. My goal for this year is to successfully graduate from high school and to get into a good college. A goal related to earth team that I’ll be setting for this year would be to participate more during discussions and hike further for our next possible hiking event.
Hi, my name is Chloe and I am a senior at CVHS! A little bit about me: I’ve played soccer for around 10 years, I am public relations officer for our school’s Poli-sci Club, and I love playing instruments(guitar and piano) and singing in my free time. I joined Earth Team to work on myself—I love working on projects that contribute to the well-being of my community and currently volunteer a lot with ForestR. I am so excited to learn about ways to be more environmentally conscious and better my understanding of the world. This year, I hope to find lots of joy in this organization. I look forward to planting trees and the like, and I find doing so very fulfilling and gratifying. I also hope to create closer connections with my peers and network with those that come speak with us, as I find this field very interesting and am considering pursuing a career in it.
Hi! My name is Alice and I’m a freshman at Castro Valley High School. Some of my hobbies include playing the piano, going on walks and hanging out with my friends! I joined Earth Team because I thought it would be a great opportunity to help out and learn more about the environment. Earth Team appeals to me because I’ve always been interested in bettering the environment. My goal for this year is to help reduce waste in my community by going on trash clean-ups/pick-ups. I also hope to plant trees!
Hi, my name is Lily Payne and I am a senior at CVHS! What I like to do in my free time is: snowboarding, art, sculpturing, crafting, making clothes, concerts, fishing, cooking, flower pressing, sewing, working out, video games, piano and I love cats! I joined Earth Team because of the kind and close community, as well as helping the environment and spreading knowledge. I want to participate in Earth Team as much as I can and become more extroverted, and opening up to others!
Hi my name is Olga Volynets and I’m a junior. Aside from EarthTeam, I’m vice president of the CV Interact Club, as well as secretary of Poli-Sci club. I also have been playing piano for quite a while, but I recently got a business internship! The reason I joined Earth Team is because I am really interested in learning about the earth and I am considering to go into urban planning. I also love doing things hands on and I love that Earth Team provides those opportunities. One of my goals for this year is to increase our network and where we work. It would be really cool if we have new locations and have more people know about us.
Hi, my name is Karla Gonzalez and I am a senior at Castro Valley High School! I like science, to knit, read, listen to music, and watching movies. I also like to hike at places like The Zion National Park, Yosemite National Park and other state parks in the country. I rejoined Earth Team because I really enjoyed being part of the community we built together over time. I enjoyed helping the earth since I admire my environment and it’s important to me. My goal for this year is to master time management for this internship. Last year, I struggled a lot attending most of the field events but this year I want to change that and improve my management skills. I wish to attend every single meeting the best I can.
Hi, my name is Lucas Hanson. I’m a senior at Castro Valley High School and I’m excited to be a part of Earth Team again this year! I joined Earth Team because of my love of nature and desire to help make a difference in my local commmunity. I hope to continue the work we did last year with litter cleanups and habitat restoration. Last year I had a great time working with my fellow interns and I formed a lot of great friendships and connections. I’m looking forward to another year!
Hello! My name is Angel and I am a senior this year! This is my fourth year in Earth Team and I am excited for all the events this year! I am the President of my school’s Smart Environment Club and Drum Major of the Marching Band. I enjoy cooking and playing musical instruments, especially piano. I am a plant mom to a huge variety of plants and love practicing recurve archery in my free time. I’ve been on several camping and backpacking trips as an Earth Team participant and OLP leader, engaging in outdoor education while enjoying the beauties of nature. I joined Earth Team to enact change in my community through community projects and restoration, stemming from my passion from learning about drastic environmental issues in my community. I am excited for this year’s community projects and looking forward to making a difference and becoming better stewards in my community.
Hello I’m Sophia Chan! I’m a senior at Castro Valley High School and excited to do Earth Team again! I have had a passion for environmentalism since middle school and when I found out about this internship, I was thrilled to be doing something I care about professionally. This year, I hope to make a lasting environmental impact on our school and Castro Valley, as it will be my last year before graduating. At CVHS, I’m the Vice President of the Smart Environment Club and I compete in Science Olympiad, studying topics about nature. In my free time, I love to garden, craft, and bake (although I’m not the best at it). I hope to make happy lasting memories this year!
My name is Oliver Castrejon. I’m in the 12th grade at Castro Valley High School. I like to play soccer with friends. I enjoy reading books and watching movies to experience new perspectives through different lenses. I joined Earth Team because it sounded like a great opportunity to learn about the environment while meeting new people and getting to explore environmental-related professions. This year I want to plant trees and go on one of the hiking trips.
Hello! My name is Sam and I’m a senior at CVHS. I’m a member of Smart Environment and the Secretary of Bring Change to Mind club. I like to do crocheting, boxing and drawing. I joined EarthTeam after I gained an interest in the outdoors, and I want to help reduce waste in my community. I also joined as a way to educate myself, because I want to go into the environmental field. One goal for this year is to explore different environmental careers through EarthTeam. I hope to get an idea of how I can approach environmental issues through different resources.
Hi, I’m Fleur Joseph, a sophomore at CVHS. In my free time, I enjoy singing, playing the piano and guitar, and playing soccer. I’ve always been fascinated by nature, especially flowers and animals. This summer, I had the opportunity to take the Plant Physiology course at UCLA, which made me even more excited about these interests. I joined Earth Team to meet others who care about the environment. My goal this year is to use my skills to strengthen our campaign and help us make a real difference in our community.
